Fare Pricing

There are three fare zones for SkyTrain and SeaBus travel in Metro Vancouver — the number of boundaries you cross during your trip will determine your fare. View the Fare Zone Map to see the SkyTrain and SeaBus zones. Buses are one zone.

Fare Increases

The annual fare increase takes effect on July 1, 2018. Fares will increase by 5 to 10 cents for single-use fares, 25 cents for DayPasses and $1 to $2 for monthly passes. These modest increases are included as a funding source for the Mayor’s 10-year Vision to help bring more and better service to everyone in our growing region. Even with these modest increases, Metro Vancouver continues to have the lowest average fares of all major Canadian cities.

Please note that Concession Stored Value fares will no longer be the same as the Concession cash rate. Concession Stored Value fares will be $1.85 while Concession cash fares will be $1.90.

Concession Fare Elligibility: HandyCard holders, seniors 65 years and older and youth 14 to 18 years with valid photo identification proving age, and children 5 to 13 years. Children under 5 years ride free when accompanied by an adult (maximum 4 children per adult).

Remember:

  • If you have a Compass Card/Ticket, you can transfer across all modes on a single fare for up to 90 minutes (120 minutes with a West Coast Express fare), as long as your fare includes the number of zones you intend to travel on SkyTrain and SeaBus.
  • If paying with cash or Bus Transfer on the bus, you can transfer to other buses on a single fare for up to 90 minutes, but you can’t transfer to rail or SeaBus with a Bus Transfer. You’ll need Compass to transfer to rail or SeaBus.
  • Buses require exact change if paying cash.
  • Compass Vending Machines (CVMs) are located at SkyTrain, SeaBus, and West Coast Express stations, and accept cash, credit/debit.
  • After 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and all day Saturday, Sunday and holidays, the system operates as one zone (so one-zone fares apply).
  • The $5 Canada Line YVR AddFare applies to Stored Value trips, or single-use fares and Day Passes purchased on Compass Cards and Compass Tickets at Sea Island stations (YVR–Airport, Sea Island Centre, and Templeton), for eastbound travel beyond Sea Island.
