We continue to salt and sand bus loops and SkyTrain stations, but please use caution in these areas and remember to dress warmly in anticipation of potential delays.

Expect extra crowding on some routes To provide improved traction, many articulated buses may be switched with standard, 40 foot buses. This will mean some modified service, with increased crowding and the possibility of passups in some areas.

HandyDART is currently operating regular service, but is experiencing delays in the Tri-City and Vancouver areas.

Expo and Millennium Lines are running consistently, but with reduced frequency due to the need to have staff on each train to watch for weather-related problems on the tracks. Please be prepared to wait longer on the platform between trains.


Compass is your key!

To travel on SkyTrain, SeaBus, or West Coast Express, you need a Compass Card or Compass Ticket to open fare gates or to tap on a station validator.

You can keep using cash, bus transfers, and FareSavers on buses, but you’ll need Compass to transfer to rail or SeaBus.

Compass Cards can be loaded with Monthly Passes, DayPasses, and Stored Value. Loading Stored Value onto your Compass Card is just like adding cash to your card, so you can pay-as-you-go. Please note, the $5 Canada Line YVR AddFare is applied to Stored Value trips departing Sea Island stations and continuing to Bridgeport Station and beyond.

Note: When you get a Compass Card, you'll pay a $6 refundable deposit for your card. You can get your deposit back by returning your card to the Compass Customer Service Centre at Stadium–Chinatown Station or the West Coast Express Office at Waterfront Station. How to Use

Using your Compass Card is easy. Simply tap in when you start your journey and tap out when exiting or transferring. Remember, buses are tap in only, so there's no need to tap out when exiting.

When you tap out, the system calculates the fare zones you've travelled and charges you the correct fare. This applies to all products, including Monthly Passes. Card readers are located at all SkyTrain and SeaBus fare gates, near bus doors, and at the entry and exit points to West Coast Express stations.

To help improve customer convenience, we're intoducing Compass Wristbands–a Compass Card that you wear on your wrist!

Just like a Compass Card. Tap in and out when travelling on transit and reload online, at a Compass Vending Machine, by phone or in person. Just like a Compass Card, you’ll pay a $6 refundable fee when you pick up your wristband. Remember to tap the part of the wristband that displays the contactless symbol.

We have to encode them with a special machine before they're used for the first time and this can only be done at our two customer-service centres in Vancouver.

Wristbands work just like adult and concession Compass Cards, which means you can load a U-Pass BC onto a blue adult wristband. Other program cards can’t be loaded onto a wristband.

The wristbands are adjustable and can accomodate small and large wrists.

Yes, but this can only be done at one of our customer service centres, because we need to encode the wristband before use.

We don’t have anything planned at this time. However, we’re always monitoring the availability of new products.

Like a Compass Card, you can register your wristband online which gives you balance protection and the option to sign up for other features like AutoLoad or our Bike Parkade program.

To replace your wristband, you'll need to visit to one of our customer service centres. Please note that we are launching a limited supply in early December and once they run out, there won’t be more available until February, 2019.

Yes, you can register online just like a Compass Card, which will provide you with balance protection, in case you lose your card. You can also sign up for AutoLoad.
