Transit Service Changes

Four times a year (spring, summer, fall, and winter), TransLink updates its bus service schedules to reflect seasonal changes in customer demand and to optimize service. The following service changes come into effect on September 4, 2017 (unless indicated otherwise).

Starting September 4, we're adding 105,000 annual service hours of permanent bus improvements across Metro Vancouver to reduce wait times and overcrowding, extend service hours and add service to new areas. Look for more improvements coming to your area over the next two years.

Seasonal Changes

9 Alma/Granville/Commercial-Broadway Station/Boundary

All trips between UBC and Broadway/Alma in the AM and PM peaks will return to regular service to coincide with the return to school.

 


 

19 Metrotown Station/Stanley Park

The additional downtown shuttle service operating between West Pender and Cambie streets to Stanley Park is discontinued at the end of the summer tourist season, effective September 5, 2017.

 


 

25 Brentwood Station/UBC

Seasonal:

  • All AM peak trips between Brentwood Station and UBC run every 7-8 minutes.
  • Special trips to Willingdon/Canada Way only, will resume service. Departing King Edward/Granville at 7:17, 7:20 and 7:29 a.m.

Permanent:

  • We're increasing frequency to reduce overcrowding on weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings and on Saturday mornings and evenings.
    • Weekdays:
      • Every 8 min from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
      • Every 4 minutes from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
      • Every 8 minutes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
      • Every 6 minutes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
      • Every 8 minutes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Saturdays:
      • Every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
      • Every 12 minutes from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 


 

28 Joyce Station/Phibbs Exchange/Capilano University

Service between Phibbs Exchange and Capilano University returns, coinciding with the return to school.

 


 

41 Joyce Station/Crown/UBC

7:56 a.m. westbound trip from Joyce Station returns, coinciding with the return to school.

 


 

43 Joyce Station/UBC

Seasonal:

  • 7:09 a.m., 7:33 a.m., 8:39 a.m. and 9:06 a.m. trips from Joyce Station return to serve increased student demand.

Permanent:

  • We’re expanding hours on the 43 to provide midday express service on 41st Avenue.
  • New express service runs every 15 minutes on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • These changes will bring the 43 route one step closer to providing B-Line service to and from UBC.

 


 

44 UBC/Downtown

  • Seasonal increase in frequency during rush hour to coincide with return to school.
  • Westbound AM peak trips run every 7-8 minutes, increased from 10 minutes.
  • Eastbound PM peak trips run every 12 minutes, increased from 15 minutes.

 


 

84 VCC-Clark Station/UBC

Seasonal:

  • Additional morning trips connecting VCC-Clark and UBC return to coincide with the return to school.

Permanent:

  • We're increasing frequency during weekday rush periods to reduce overcrowding.
  • Customers will benefit from an additional trip per hour during morning and afternoon rush periods.

 


 

125 Patterson Station/BCIT

  • Express service between Patterson and BCIT returns, coinciding with the return to school.
  • The 125 runs every 6-9 minutes from Patterson between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.; and every 6-9 minutes from BCIT between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

 


 

130 Metrotown Station/Hastings/Phibbs Exchange/Capilano University

Seasonal:

  • Service between Phibbs Exchange and Capilano University returns to coincide with the return to school.
  • Service runs both directions between Phibbs Exchange and Capilano University in the AM and PM peak periods.

Permanent:

  • We're increasing service during rush periods and evenings on weekdays and Saturdays.
  • Weekdays – Service runs every 6-7 minutes, up from every 7-8 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturdays – Service runs every 12-15 minutes, up from every 15-20 minutes, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 


 

145 Production Way/SFU

Extra school year trips to SFU will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 


 

150 White Pine Beach

Service is discontinued effective September 5, 2017, and will return next May.

 


 

179 Coquitlam Central Station/Buntzen Lake

Service is discontinued effective September 5, 2017, and will return next summer.

 


 

210 Upper Lynn Valley/Vancouver

Eastbound morning rush hour trips return.

 


 

227 Lynn Valley Centre/Phibbs Exchange

Extra trips between Lynn Valley Centre and Lynn Canyon Park end and will return next summer.

 


 

236 Grouse Mountain/Pemberton Heights/Lonsdale Quay

Regular service returns during midday hours Monday-Friday, to coincide with end of tourist season.

 


 

258 UBC/West Vancouver

Weekday express service from West Vancouver to UBC returns

 


 

480 Bridgeport Station/UBC

Regular service returns, to coincide with the start of school.

 


 

C19 Alma/Spanish Banks

Seasonal weekend service is discontinued until next summer, effective September 5, 2017.

 


 

Permanent Changes


25 Brentwood Station/UBC

Seasonal:

  • All AM peak trips between Brentwood Station and UBC run every 7-8 minutes.
  • Trips from King Edward Ave/Granville St to Willington Ave/Canada Way at 7:50, 7:53 and 8:05 a.m. return.

Permanent:

  • We're increasing frequency to reduce overcrowding on weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings and on Saturday mornings and evenings.
    • Weekdays:
      • Every 8 min from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
      • Every 4 minutes from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
      • Every 8 minutes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
      • Every 6 minutes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
      • Every 8 minutes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Saturdays:
      • Every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
      • Every 12 minutes from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 


 

43 Joyce Station/UBC

Seasonal:

  • 7:09 a.m., 7:33 a.m., 8:39 a.m. and 9:06 a.m. trips from Joyce Station return to serve increased student demand.

Permanent:

49 Metrotown Station/UBC

  • We’re increasing frequency all day long during the week to reduce overcrowding.
  • Customers will benefit from 1-2 additional trips per hour from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Starting September 4, the 49 stop at Metrotown SkyTrain Station will permanently move as upgrades at the station are completed.
    • The 49 will move from Metrotown Loop to Central Boulevard in front of Metrotown Station at Bay 11.
    • The new bus stop location will significantly improve bus and SkyTrain connections.
    • When the 49 UBC leaves from Metrotown Bay 11, it now travels via Central, Imperial, regular route.

 


 

84 VCC-Clark Station/UBC

Seasonal:

  • Additional morning trips connecting VCC-Clark and UBC return to coincide with the return to school.

Permanent:

  • We're increasing frequency during weekday rush periods to reduce overcrowding.
  • Customers will benefit from an additional trip per hour during morning and afternoon rush periods.

 


 

116 Edmonds Station/Metrotown Station

  • Starting September 4, the 116 stop at Metrotown SkyTrain Station will permanently move as upgrades at the station are completed.
  • The 116 will move from Metrotown Loop to Central Boulevard in front of Metrotown Station at Bay 12.
  • The new bus stop location will significantly improve bus and SkyTrain connections.

  • Service runs every 15 minutes from Phibbs Exchange to Capilano University from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Weekdays – Service runs every 6-7 minutes, up from every 7-8 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturdays – Service runs every 12-15 minutes, up from every 15-20 minutes, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 


 

159 Coquitlam Central Station/Braid Station New Service Area!

  • We’re extending the 159 route from downtown Port Coquitlam to Coquitlam Central Station to reduce transfers and provide better connections to SkyTrain.
  • The 159 will run from Braid Station to Coquitlam Central Station, via downtown Port Coquitlam.
  • Transit users in south Port Coquitlam will have a direct link to the Evergreen Extension.
  • Going to Port Coquitlam Station? 159 users can find the closest bus stop on Wilson Avenue at Mary Hill Road – only one block away from Port Coquitlam Station.

 


 

240 15th Street/Vancouver

  • We’re increasing frequency during weekday rush periods and Saturdays to reduce overcrowding.
  • Weekdays – Service runs every 8-12 minutes, up from every 8-15 minutes, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and every 8-9 minutes, up from every 10 minutes, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturdays – Service runs every 10 minutes, up from every 12 minutes, from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

 


 

351 Crescent Beach/Bridgeport Station

  • We’re increasing frequency to reduce overcrowding during rush hour periods during the week.
  • Weekdays: Service will run every 7-12 minutes from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and every 10-12 minutes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

 


 

354 White Rock South/Bridgeport Station New Service Area!

  • During rush-hour periods, the 354 will run every 10-20 minutes and provide a direct connection to Bridgeport SkyTrain Station.
  • In off-peak times, Morgan Creek residents can take the new 363, which connects to the 351 and 321.
  • The 354 will continue to service the same areas of White Rock, but passengers may have to board from a stop on the opposite side of the street.
  • 354 service on 148th Ave and 20th Ave will end. These streets will continue to be served by routes 352 or 360 (formerly the C50). Riders also have the option of walking to a bus stop on 152 St or North Bluff Road.

 


 

372 Clayton Heights/Langley Centre – New Service Area!

  • The new 372 will link 72 Avenue in Clayton Heights and 203 Street in Willowbrook with frequent transit routes on Fraser Highway and at Langley Centre.
  • Weekdays: Every 30 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturdays: Every 30 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sundays/Holidays: Every 30 minutes from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

 


 

430 Metrotown/Richmond–Brighouse Station

  • We’re increasing frequency in the morning to reduce crowding and during the day to reduce wait times.
  • Weekdays:
    • Every 15 minutes, up from every 20, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    • Every 20 minutes, up from every 30 minutes, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 


 

620 Tsawwassen Ferry/Bridgeport Station

  • We’re increasing capacity to reduce crowding between the Canada Line and Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal.
  • In the busiest periods, up to four 60-foot articulated buses will depart Bridgeport Station at the same time.
  • More trips will be added to the schedule at the busiest times, every day of the week.

C45 Cottonwood/Haney Place &
C46 Albion/Haney Place

  • We’re increasing frequency and extending hours on the C45 and C46.
  • Weekdays: Service runs every hour from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The C45 runs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Depending on their destination, customers can choose to take either the C45 or C46 in the Albion and Cottonwood areas. Routes run clockwise and counterclockwise along the same corridor. Between the two routes, bus service will operate every 30 minutes.

 


 

C47/733 Rock Ridge/Haney Place – New Service Area!

  • The C47 is being replaced with two new bus routes that will extend into Silver Valley!
  • The new 733 will provide two way service on 232 Street, and then extend up to streets like 239b Street and 133 Avenue.
  • This change will introduce service to Silver Valley and introduce two-way bus service on 232 Street north of Haney Place.
  • Just like the C47, this route will extend to Port Haney Station to meet West Coast Express trains.

 


 

C47/741 Anderson Creek/Haney Place – New Service Area!

  • The C47 is being replaced with two new bus routes that will extend to Silver Valley!
  • The new 741 will provide two way service on 227 Street and 128 Avenue, and then extend to streets like Foreman Drive and Silver Valley Road.
  • This change will introduce service to Silver Valley and will introduce two-way bus service on 227 Street and 128 Avenue north of Haney Place.
  • Just like the C47, this route will extend to Port Haney Station to meet West Coast Express trains.

 


 

C50/360 Ocean Park/Peace Arch Hospital

  • The C50 has a new name! Meet the new 360.
  • We’re dropping the letter “C” from all bus routes in the region. This letter used to indicate that a route was only served with smaller Community Shuttle buses. Today, we can better serve our customers by operating different sizes of buses interchangeably, depending on demand.
  • In this set of service changes, there are no changes to the route, frequency or vehicle type.

 


 

C51/361 Ocean Park/White Rock Centre

  • The C51 has a new name! Meet the new 361.
  • We’re dropping the letter “C” from all bus routes in the region. This letter used to indicate that a route was only served with smaller Community Shuttle buses. Today, we can better serve our customers by operating different sizes of buses interchangeably, depending on demand.
  • In this set of service changes, there are no changes to the route, frequency or vehicle type.

 


 

C52/362 Seaside/White Rock Centre

  • The C52 has a new name and more frequent service! Service now runs every 30 minutes, every day. Meet the new 362.
  • We’re dropping the letter “C” from all bus routes in the region. This letter used to indicate that a route was only served with smaller Community Shuttle buses. Today, we can better serve our customers by operating different sizes of buses interchangeably, depending on demand.
  • In this set of service changes, there are no changes to the route or vehicle type.

 


 

C53/363 Southpoint/Peace Arch HospitalNew Service Area!

  • The C53 has a new name and serves a new neighbourhood!
  • The new 363 will extend along 160 Street through the rapidly developing Morgan Creek neighbourhood.
  • The route was also redesigned to provide simpler and more direct service through South Surrey.
